The role of Expert Annotator

Perhaps you have a flair for language and instructions but don’t consider yourself a writer or editor. Your skills could be perfect for the role of expert annotator.

At Mindrift, we value diverse skill sets beyond just writing and editing so you can still contribute significantly as an Expert Annotator. As an Expert annotator you will specialise in complex annotation tasks for generative AI projects. Your responsibilities include detailed data annotation, task evaluation, material review and ensuring tasks are performed according to instructions.

Why is the role of Expert Annotator important?

The work done by Expert Annotators is essential in training and refining our advanced AI models.Their meticulous work ensures the quality and accuracy of data used to train generative AI models. By performing detailed annotations, evaluating tasks, reviewing materials, and verifying adherence to instructions, they help to refine and enhance AI performance. This process is vital for developing AI systems that are reliable, effective, and capable of producing high-quality outputs in real-world applications.

What do data annotators actually do?

Our data annotators are responsible for quality assurance – they assess and enhance work quality, offering suggestions for improvement. They also provide instructional guidance, creating concise and effective task instructions for AI projects and developing tasks to help AI tutors deliver quality projects.

For example, you might be asked to take a human-generated dialogue, with prompt questions and answers and decide whether the dialogue is acceptable, along with providing feedback to the editors.

You’ll be asked to approve or make suggestions to the editors to rewrite.

Or you might be asked to check if a three-turn dialogue is concise, logical, and factually correct. The topics may vary from intestinal perforation to the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war.

One of the joys of this work is that you never know what topic you’ll be asked to provide conversational guidance on.

If you’re not ready to become an Expert Annotator, you could work as an entry-level annotator and we have junior data annotation roles available.
