Partha’s career shift: Playing at the intersection of AI and Economics

Partha transitioned from journalism to part-time teaching before becoming an AI Tutor. He enjoys the dynamic nature of the work and continuous learning opportunities. He believes that finding a work-life balance should be a priority for every professional.

What is your professional background and education?

I have an Honors degree in Economics and a Postgraduate Diploma in Foreign Trade Management. I started my career in journalism, but my interest in education led me to teach Managerial Economics, Banking, and Finance part-time. Then, in October 2023, I chose to become an AI Tutor.

Why have you decided to become an AI Tutor?

It was only natural to get involved in the AI industry because of my background. My experience as a journalist improved my ability to communicate and process data, and teaching made me a better economist. My degree in Foreign Trade gave me a global perspective, which is vital in today’s world. Working in AI allows me to leverage my skills. I can use my knowledge of economics to contribute to innovative solutions that connect traditional economics and technology. This shapes AI algorithms and allows me to push the boundaries of what is possible at the intersection of economics and artificial intelligence.

What do you like the most about this role?

The opportunity to combine my passion for economics with the potential of artificial intelligence. I find it fulfilling and enjoy the dynamic nature of the work. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities for learning and growth.

What is unique in your Mindrift journey compared to your professional background?

What stood out was how Mindrift placed me at the center of AI. It is unlike anything I have ever experienced. Mindrift has pushed the boundaries of innovation and challenged me to adapt to an industry where algorithms and data are a priority. This has required a new level of agility and a willingness to embrace uncertainty. It is very different from the structured routines of my previous roles. Mindrift has broadened my skill set and changed my perception of technology.

How is writing for Mindrift different compared to traditional writing work?

Writing for Mindrift is different in terms of the purpose, audience, and style. Unlike traditional writing, which seeks to engage and inform human readers, the goal of writing here is to guide AI algorithms to generate clear and relevant responses. Writing in Mindrift is clear, specific, and adaptable to various contexts and datasets. It requires a deep understanding of AI’s capabilities and limitations, and the ability to predict and address biases in generated responses.

How do you balance freelancing and your life outside Mindrift?

I maintain balance by identifying priorities and practicing deliberate time management. I allocate specific times for work, which is great for meeting deadlines and delivering great results. I also create time for personal and learning activities. This includes spending time with loved ones, pursuing hobbies, or continuing my education. I have avoided burnout by setting boundaries and following a schedule. This has given me time for self-care and relaxation. I seek opportunities to integrate my passions into my work. For example, when I train AI with topics around my hobbies, I get the satisfaction of doing what I love.

Are you active in Mindrift’s community?

Yes. As part of the Mindrift community, I am very active on Discord. I use the community to discuss with other freelancers, seek feedback on my work, and stay updated on project developments. It is an efficient platform for networking, sharing insights, and learning from others. I also use it to collaborate on projects and find solutions to common problems at work. Discord keeps me connected and makes my freelancing experience better.
