Interview With Amy: From romantic novelist to pioneer AI editor
Amy’s story is a testament to resilience and adaptability in the face of evolving industries and personal challenges. Her journey from traditional writing to editing for AI illustrates the blend of creativity and technology possible in a role like this.
In this interview, Amy, a seasoned writer and editor speaks about how she turned her passion into a successful career at Mindrift. She shares her experiences in the writing industry, her personal challenges and her transition to working in AI.
She first started with a creative arts degree and a brief venture into computing. However, eventually, she returned to her first love of writing. The passing of her sister-in-law led her to adopt her niece, prompting a move towards working from home. This meant she could dedicate more time to writing, particularly SEO content, web copy and short stories. She also published three historical romance novels set in England.
Despite her initial doubts around AI and human creativity, Amy has embraced the new technology, contributing to refining AI outputs and ensuring ethical use, while maintaining the human element of her creative endeavours. The possibility of unethical use is a common fear around AI but it all comes down to ensuring content is responsible, Amy says, stressing the importance of ethical guidelines in AI training at Mindrift. She believes the Mindrift approach helps in fighting this behaviour and that’s why she’s so enthusiastic about being part of the process.
As a creative freelancer, the supportive and professional environment at Mindrift is ideal for someone like Amy. As such, she is active in the company’s Discord community, finding it a useful platform for professional communication as well as occasional light-hearted interactions.
